Colors and prints give life to our clothes. Each season designers bet on one or the other, but what will be the trends in colors and prints for autumn-winter 2020/2021??
The six colors of the season
Every season, after the London and New York fashion shows, the Pantone Institute presents its Fashion Color Trend Report with the new fashion colors. This autumn-winter they cover the whole rainbow: shades of yellow, orange, green, blue and red. Expressive but at the same time timeless and versatile colors that give a sense of functionality. At Horse we have chosen the 6 most outstanding ones.
GREEN SHEEN
It is a light yellow, muted and somewhat greenish. It attracts attention but at the same time it is delicate and easy to wear. It combines very well with Ultramarine green (another of the shades of the season) and with earth or pink tones.
CLASSIC BLUE
Classic Blue is the Pantone color of the year so it could not be missing in this list. It is a classic and vibrant blue, which combines perfectly with black and reflects the sobriety of fashion in this 2020.
FIRED BRICK
This redmaroon is surely the most autumnal shade of this selection. Sophisticated and elegant, it combines very well with almost any color: from warm earth tones and reds to pastel shades for contrast. There have been quite a few designs with skin effect in this tone.
AMBERGLOW
The most eye-catching of all. This butane orange proves that vibrant tones are not reserved for the summer season. Again, it can be combined with earth tones or blues and greens for more contrast.
SAMBA RED
This matte muted red is a trend that transcends fashion. Sophisticated, autumnal and perfect also as a lipstick shade.
ULTRAMARINE GREEN
Ultramarine Green is a deep and discreet green. It goes perfectly with olive skins and combined with Classic Blue.
A season of classic prints
Autumn-winter 2020/2021 is not a season of flashy prints. Plaids, florals, animal print… for the most part, designers opt for classic and moderate prints and combine them with simple garments or tones to tone them down.
Flowers also in autumn-winter
Flowers are a classic print. They are present every year in many forms, especially in spring-summer. This year they have also been seen a lot in the autumn-winter fashion shows with a more wintry touch. On dark or black backgrounds, large flowers and arranged in large and separate patterns. The flowers chosen are not typical of summer, Balenciaga, for example, opts for mimosas.
Art print
The contemporary art goes beyond the museums and sneaks into the parades as a print of coats, skirts, dresses … Particularly noteworthy are the collections of Chloé and Kenzo, which have used this type of print in much of their autumn-winter designs. It is a very wearable and functional trend, perfectly adaptable to street wear to give a more interesting touch to a T-shirt or dress.
Plaid: the quintessential autumn print
The checks are present in almost every winter season and this one was not going to be less. However, they are not the great protagonists of the looks, they are incorporated to quite sober pieces and with neutral colors.
With vintage airs
This trend brings together several different prints: some with curved or geometric shapes and retro-futuristic style and others more classic and associated with a vintage style, the cock’s foot and the paisley. The latter two are the most notable bets of the season;
A more relaxed animal print
The autumn-winter 2018-2019 season was the big boom of the animal print. This time it appears in a more subtle way, especially in outerwear combined with more neutral garments. In addition, the print itself reduces realism and becomes more artistic, more unstructured.
These are the trends in colors and prints autumn-winter 2020/2021. Sober, versatile and functional but also playful;
