The best complement to any look, accessories have the power to change an outfit completely. Handbags, jewelry, scarves, belts, sunglasses… What are the trends in accessories for this autumn-winter 2020/2021?.
Neck and head scarves
Already in the autumn-winter 2018-2019 season we could see how designers opted for soft and light scarves instead of thick scarves and winter fabrics. This year, the main novelty may be the way to wear them, with very different proposals. Marc Jacobs and Dior opt to wear them as a hat, thus giving an instant bohemian and seventies air to any look. However, the general preference is still to wear them around the neck. The most notable proposals are those of Chanel, with a more masculine knotting, and that of Hermès. The Hermès sweater with the incorporated scarf has become an iconic garment of this season.
The star bag: with fringes
The most outstanding bag proposal of this season is the bag with fringes. Perhaps, the evolution of cowboy boots, great trend of western aesthetics of last autumn-winter. XXL fringes adorn bags of all shapes, styles and colors. One of the designs that is having more impact is that of Bottega Veneta, which has completely reinterpreted the garment with an unusual material in bags: wool.
It is not a trend per se, but it does highlight the shape in which the bags are carried. Large, small, long handle, short handle… it doesn’t matter, they are carried in the hand, not on the shoulder.
XXL . sunglasses;
There is no clear trend in terms of shape, but there is a clear trend in terms of size: the XXL. This autumn-winter the diva glasses are back. With simple lines, elegant, oversize both for the glass and the maxi frame and with materials such as tortoiseshell that gives them a vintage touch.
Chains everywhere;
The most prominent or, at least, the most repeated on the catwalk of the fall-winter 2020/2021 accessory trends are the chains. They have been seen in almost every possible accessory: necklaces, bracelets, earrings, belts… Accessories are filled with XXL links.
The contrast: pearls
To contrast with the aesthetics of chains, we have one of the classic materials par excellence in jewelry: pearls. Designers play with their intrinsic elegance and mix them with more contemporary materials and designs. Chanel combines them with black leather, Marc Jacobs takes their classicism to the limit with a ladylike look and Givenchy incorporates them in jewelry with a modern air. The common point is to combine them with street wearlooks. Pearls are no longer relegated to special occasions.
Bracelets with colored stones
Continuing with jewelry, another of the big bets are the natural stones adorning bracelets, necklaces or rings. Chanel has been one of the greatest exponents of this trend and has opted for cross motifs. Chloé has chosen a more bohemian style and has put the stones in necklaces and earrings.
These are the top accessory trends for fall-winter 2020/2021. One thing is clear to us: classic and alternative coexist this season in shoes and accessories.
