After the hangover of the most anticipated gala of the year in the fashion world, it’s time to focus attention on the real reason for the celebration. The exhibition “Through the look glass” of the Metropolitan Museum of New York. Until next August 16 you can visit this space of 3,000m2 and let yourself be seduced by a sample that collects all the influence of the Asian giant from the first contact with him, in the sixteenth century, until today.
The exhibition mixes the best craftsmanship in costumes, works of art, ornamentation, porcelain, painting and a small tour of the original Chinese cinema in an attempt to clean up the distorted reality that has been created in the West of the cultural image of the country.
You will find the interpretation of the Chinese influence in 150 dresses by fashion greats such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Galliano for Dior, Tom Ford for YSL, Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Karl Lagerfeld, Balenciaga or Cavalli, in contrast with original and historical Chinese pieces.
