October 2013. The fashion world receives with applause and surprise Jeremy Scott as the new Creative Director of Moschino.

His first Fall Winter 2014 / 2015 collection for MOSCHINO, was a demonstration of his fearless and provocative spirit, presenting a controversial and colorful proposal inspired by the iconography of the McDonald’s fast food chain, chocolate and popcorn wrappers and animated references such as the animated character SpongeBob.

The particular creativity of the American designer, is shown again during the presentation of his second Spring / Summer Collection 2015, in which the catwalk is transformed into the Mattel world. On this occasion, Scott pays tribute to the most girly doll in history, The Barbie of the 80’s, and for this he thought of all the details that make her so recognizable: her poses, shoes, accessories, prints and her iconic hair. Life-size Barbies that emulated almost all the models we can remember from our childhood, feminine, powerfully extravagant and with the pink taking over everything.

As we move deeper into the fashion show, the color palette expands, leading to bright shades such as neon green or yellow, blue…

…And the metallics golden combined with black, result in a plastic, pop and iconoclastic show, 100% Barbie Girl.

The exaggerated blonde hair, the curious accessories such as weights or mirrored cell phone cases, the extravagant suitcases, glasses, backpacks, skates and XXL jewelry, turned the catwalk into a procession of exact replicas of the most famous doll in the world: Barbie Sportswoman, Barbie Princess, Barbie on the Beach, Barbie Shopping, Barbie Skater … and all the versions we can imagine.

The collection, extraordinarily fun, becomes a final burst of fantasy with dresses of large volumes and exaggerated shapes, which catches us hopelessly to make us part of the boldness and aesthetics of Barbie fashion.

Undoubtedly, Moschino’s Spring Summer 2015, has Jeremy’s name written on every seam, inspired by fun and multifaceted women, who know how to enjoy life and emanate that extravagant sensuality that Barbie personifies so well. For a moment, we want to go back to our childhood and become one of them.
