We move into the mysterious life of Martin Margiela, who has spent decades hiding his true identity. YOOX Group has released ‘The Artist is Absent: A Short Film On Martin Margiela’, a documentary directed by the American screenwriter and director Alison Chernik about Margiela, the designer who revolutionized the fashion of the 80s, that we can enjoy today. A story that has been selected for Best Short Documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival (from 15 to 20 April in New York).
We will discover a bit more of this anonymous Belgian designer who has made us change the concept of fashion with his (anti) fashion and that is now presented through a documentary with photograms of his creative career and the testimonies of famous personalities like Raf Simons, Suzy Menkes and Jean-Paul Gaultier, also eccentricities of the fashion world.
The short version of the twelve-minute documentary is available from April 20th on yoox.com, thecorner.com and shoescribe.com; the full version will be able to see online after knowing the winners of the Tribeca Film Festival 2015, from today, April 27th.
