June’s highlights are the prelude to a summer as hot as it is fun and interesting. So let’s start with great art, great cinema, great design and music for all tastes.

Impressionism at the Louis Vuitton Foundation

We begin our June higlights with a trip to Paris. More specifically to the Louis Vuitton Foundation, where the exhibition “Collection Courtauld: a review of Impressionism” opened on 20 February. A fascinating exhibition with more than 100 works from a vibrant period of art.

Cezanne’s card players attend this spectacular exhibition

British artist Samuel Courtauld has assembled a mind-blowing collection over the decades. It includes Manet, Cezanne, Seurat, Van Gogh and Cezanne, among many others. Now all these works have travelled to Paris, and for months now they have been marvelling visitors to the exhibition. If you want to enjoy it yourself, you have until 17 June to do so.

The eternal and most intimate Audrey Hepburn

On 1 May, a Homage to Audrey Hepburn. A tribute to the most famous Belgian actress of all time was inaugurated in Brussels at the Espacio Vanderborght, which will remain open until 1 August. One of the most famous Belgian actresses of all time, an exhibition that will remain open until 25 August, because it is of interest to all audiences! Film buffs, lovers of fashion, culture in general, and the world of the heart.

The exhibition traces the life and work of this Hollywood star. A woman who, when the lights went out, became an endearing human being, much stronger than her fragile silhouette appeared! This exhibition focuses on her intimacy, her traumas, her friendships and the just causes she promoted, and is not only one of the highlights of June, but of the whole summer.

A festival in Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences<

Over the next few months there will be a succession of festivals of all kinds, and one of the first to appear in our June highlights is the Festival de les Arts de Valencia which will take place intensively between Friday 7th and Saturday 8th June. Where? In the spectacular City of Arts and Sciences.

You are invited to the Valencia art festival

The big stars of this Valencian festival are the concerts. There will be some of the stars of Spanish independent music such as Iván Ferreiro, Rozalén or Vetusta Morla. But there is a wider programme for all ages, ranging from an art market to illustration workshops.

Incredible travellers arrive in Brittany

Now in our June highlights we want to talk about a very different festival from the usual ones. An event that has been held annually since 1990 in the coastal town of Saint Maló, in Brittany, France, and which is presented under the suggestive name of Etonnants Voyaguers (Incredible Travellers).

Poetry recitals are part of the literary journey of this festival

That’s what this festival is all about, talking about journeys. Filmmakers, writers, photographers, cartoonists and creators from all disciplines come to this festival. And some 60,000 people who for a few days can share travel experiences, see exhibitions, attend a variety of events, or watch films that don’t make it to the cinemas. Make a note, this year it will be between 8 and 10 June.

Art Basel, our classic in June highlights

The Art Basel is back in the June highlights. A new artistic encounter in the Swiss city that in 2019, between the 13th and 16th of the month will showcase the work and creations of more than 4,000 artists from all over the world. An event that not only reaches the fairgrounds, but floods the entire city.

Contemporary art in its purest form at Art Basel

Collectors and dealers of contemporary art have all marked this key date in the European and international calendar. But on this occasion we would like to recommend Basel to art lovers, but not only for this fair. It is all year round, as it is worth talking about the Kunsthalle Basel, a museum that is always at the forefront and to which Art Basel pays tribute this year.

Glanstonbury and music stars

Also featured in other June highlights is the Glanstonbury Festival. After all, it is one of the biggest and most interesting music festivals on the European continent. An event that was born with a much more hippie spirit, but which over the decades has become the great musical event of the British Isles.

Liam Gallagher, one of the stars of Glanstonbury 2019

This will be the case again this year, between 26 and 30 June. The stages located near the town of Pilton, in the English county of Somerset, will be graced by the biggest stars of the pop-rock firmament. And of the most varied styles, from The Cure to Miley Cirus, as well as The Killers, Janet Jackson, Liam Gallagher or The Chemical Brothers.

The city of Dundee in our June Highlights

Let’s end our June highlights by suggesting a visit to the V&A Dundee, the headquarters of the Victoria and Albert Museum that has opened in the Scottish city, and which has become the first open design museum in Scotland. Several exhibitions await us there, about which we will surely give you more information in the near future. But today we would like to recommend the permanent exhibition dedicated to Scottish design, which is much more important than you might think.

A great museum surprise awaits us in Dundee

With this museum we bid farewell to the highlights of June. A place as interesting on the inside as it is on the outside thanks to the striking architecture created by the Japanese Kengo Kuma next to the River Tay. In short, the V&A Dundee perfectly exemplifies what we intend to show in Horse: Premium proposals for your leisure and enjoyment.
