Fusion of sustainability and fashion: Dior’s most eagerly awaited beachwear collaborations
The renowned French fashion house Dior has been collaborating with artists and designers for years, creating unique and exciting collections. These collaborations have spanned different creative areas, from art and music to photography and design. In spring, Kim Jones, the creative director of Dior Men, presented a collection together with the brand ERL, and for this summer we bring you the coolest collaborations of the brand, under a marine inspiration.
1. Dior x Parley for the Oceans, sustainable beachwear
For the second consecutive year, Kim Jones is working in partnership with the environmental organisation Parley for the Oceans to create this capsule collection. Together they have conceived a beachwear capsule committed to the environment, reflecting Dior’s desire to move towards sustainable and innovative fashion. A project inspired by the designer’s passion for flowers, gardens and the sea.
For this collection, Jones wanted to usefriendly materials with 96% recycled fabrics. A testament to the house’s infant creativity, the pieces are adorned with a vibrant and cheerful palette contrasting with a nuanced selection of greys. The unique models are embellished with iconic motifs such as the Dior Italic.
To celebrate the splendour of the marine world, an underwater image has been printed on the suits. A new alliance in the name of nature preservation.
2. Waves and surf with Dior Men x Vissla
In line with underwater fashion, Dior presents a full-body neoprene suit, the result of a conversation between Kim Jones and Vissla, the wetsuit and beachwear brand. Eco-designed according to the exceptional know-how of a Japanese workshop, this capsule is made from recycled jersey and eco-friendly neoprene made from limestone.
An expression of the alliance between elegance and performance, the collection is brought to life through a unique process: after sketching patterns and meticulously cutting out its various components, they are glued together by hand and sewn with the utmost precision. Combining functionality, style and durability, the wetsuits are adorned with motifs from the aquatic world.
3. Dior x Birkenstock: the sandals of the summer
For the latest beach capsule, Dior has once again teamed up with Birkenstock, reinventing two of the brand’s iconic models. The Tokio and Milano sandals are freshly dyed in the colours of the season: yellow, khaki and green. Between summer elegance and comfort, they have a functional style thanks to the rubber details and industrial buckle fastening.
The fruit of a unique creative dialogue, the soles of these shoes combine the Oblique Dior motif with the German brand’s signature bone pattern. A contemporary ode to function and refinement.
So much for Dior’s summer beachwear collaborations, where the ocean and sustainability have come together.
