The spring is over and the rays of sun in recent weeks remind us that yes, finally, summer is approaching! And with it comes the good weather, holidays and the beach or pool days and the perfect tan. The Instagram accounts of the celebrities are already beginning to fill up with summer photo sessions because some of them have already been lucky enough to be able to show off the fashion trends in swimwear 2017.
What are the trendiest colors? And the trendiest prints? What designs we will find this season? And above all, do I choose a bathing suit or bikini? In Horse, we have reviewed the most outstanding trends for this summer.
One color: nude
We start with color and, undoubtedly, one of the most outstanding is nude, which we will see in both bikinis and bathing suits creating an effect as second skin.

Vintage psychedelic prints
In contrast, the color is concentrated in striking psychedelic prints with some vintage air, also very in trend.

Trendy fabrics: crochet and lamé
The rest of colors and prints are presented mostly in minimal forms, with simple silhouettes that make them stand out or altered by the different textures of the fabrics, which take a great importance in the swimwear collections as they had been doing it in the seasons of autumn-winter and spring-summer. So, of course, crochet and lamé will be present accompanied by other details of hosier style like laces and embroideries or the patchwork.

Ribbons wrapping the waist
Other times, colors mix with design details that adorn the simplicity of the monochromatic shapes. The zippers are seen in both bikinis tops and swimsuits, decorating the chest area in a very suggestive way. At other times, the designs are complemented by evolving strips, which start from both the top and bottom of the bikini and surround the body creating a cross shape.

Goodbye strips, hello sleeves
After the designers’ desire to make the shoulders the sexiest part of the female anatomy and the great number of garments with bardot, halter and cold-shoulder neckline that have invaded our wardrobe this year, this trend has also reached swimwear, giving rise to striking bikinis that get rid of the classic strips and bet on the sleeves.

Flounces and sail print: together and separately
And finally, we have to highlight as design details the flounces that adorn the chest area. In bikinis as well as swimsuits, this is the most adapted trend in low-cost firms and surely, we will see them in beaches and pools during this summer. Sometimes we will see them mixed with striped sailor prints or dots that we will normally see in a minimal way but, in some occasions, they will have a retro touch with flounces, sleeves, high panties and folk touches. Vintage bathing suit
That retro or vintage legacy has been seen in greater or lesser extent in almost all collections for this summer 2017, both inside and outside the catwalk. Geometric prints, high panties, appliques… that evoke bathing suits from the 50s.
