At Horse, we stay updated on innovations in the world of dining, and one of these exclusive events was the first edition of Chef Rodrigo de la Calle’s Showcooking, which took place on May 16th at the Virens restaurant in the Almanac Barcelona Hotel, awarded as the best emerging restaurant of 2022 in the “we’re smart green guide” awards.

Rodrigo is a renowned Michelin-starred chef and the creator, along with Santiago Orts, of the Gastrobotánica concept, where he introduces forgotten, unknown, or unusual vegetable species into his culinary creations.

This culinary modality seeks to bring haute cuisine to the public while enjoying a unique gastronomic experience. This event was well received in its first edition and promises to delight future diners in an unparalleled experience, merging the unique flavors of contemporary cuisine with avant-garde creativity.

The culinary experience will be held once a month (June 29th, July 13th, August 10th, and September 7th) starting at eight in the evening (8:00 PM), with limited spaces ensuring an intimate and exclusive atmosphere for all lucky attendees.

Showcooking, an exclusive experience

During the culinary demonstration, diners had the opportunity to enjoy an exclusive tasting menu carefully prepared by the chef and his team, consisting of three appetizers, three starters, a main course, a fish dish, and dessert.

Each dish stood out for its originality and harmonious combination of fresh, seasonal ingredients, which became small pleasures in every bite. All accompanied by a pairing of Catalan wines from the hotel’s own cellar.

Additionally, attendees could enjoy the presence of the chef throughout the dinner and witness firsthand the entire creation and cooking process of Rodrigo de la Calle at the Virens bar. This exclusive opportunity will be available from June 29th until September.
