Among the last novelties in Taschen, we can find a recompilation of the 40 years of work of one of the most recognised fashion photographers, Peter Lindbergh
“A Different Vision on Fashion Photography”
Under the title “A Different Vision on Fashion Photography”, the author Thierry-Maxime Loriot has managed to compile the most representative photographs of a man that has marked a before and after in the textile industry. A faithful retrospective of his brilliant career.
The publication coincides with the homonymous retrospective of the book, which could be seen in the Kunsthal, a museum located in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). The exhibition will remain open from 10th September to 12th February of next year.
Although he started his work in the 70s, the photograph that would make the difference on his career was taken in 1989. Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford were portrayed by Peter Lindbergh in New York, and it was that very picture which would become the emblematic cover of the British Vogue the January of 1990. It was the birth certificate of the supermodels. The popular perception towards models totally changed, transforming them into icons.

His amazing reputation is reflected in this book. Famous celebrities like Jean Paul Gaultier, Nicole Kidman, Grace Coddington, Cindy Crawfrod or Anna Wintour wanted to participate in this tribute by writing some notes and comments that accompany the pictures.

This recompilation, of over 400 photographs, is the most vivid representation of his unmistakable style. Monochromatic images –restrained and seductive– provide an artistic perspective that use a cinematographic language. Actresses who express and interact; real heroines yet portrayed without much artifice. Peter Lindbergh bets on a natural beauty, the minimum quantity of make-up and simple hairstyles that show the woman behind the picture. Everything in black and white, a feature that characterizes his photographs.

One of the more-than-400 photographs included in this fantastic recompilation
His way of representing the elegance and sensuality helped him to start working with famous models, designers and magazines. His curriculum vitae is astronomical. He directed films and documentaries, and also published books. His pictures have appeared on the covers of Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. And his list of projects is still getting bigger. He will be in charge of photographing the 2017 Pirelli Calendar, the third time that the German artist is responsible for the creative direction of the well-known calendar.
His unique style inaugurated a new era in the fashion world. That’s the reason why the art editorial wanted to pay a tribute to the living legend that started the top model phenomenon. The pictures are sheer magnetism and they will captivate you upon taking a look at the book, which is art in itself.
