The Montblanc fountain pen brand is launching this initiative in which it will be possible to participate until 31 October.
Coming from a pen and fountain pen manufacturer, it is not surprising that, beyond selling its products, it promotes writing. We could probably be reflecting a lot on the power of words, but that would be a separate topic. What I’m here to tell you today is that Montblanc has launched the Let’s Write writing competition. An initiative that seeks precisely to reconnect us with that ability to string together reflections in writing, by hand, returning to a historical exercise but at the same time very much alive today. Faced with today’s frenetic pace of life, there are more and more followers who find in pen and paper a way to return to the present, to order it and understand it better.
Everything you need to know to participate
Let’s Write is an open call for entries in which Montblanc invites participants to write a compelling story about the power of writing. The contest will run from September until October 31st in several European countries and will select five winners, one for each participating language (French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish). The prize will be a trip to Montblanc Haus in Munich and a gold-plated Meisterstück 149 fountain pen. This is an iconographic element of writing culture, which celebrates its centenary this year.
To participate, each person must order a Montblanc paper set from any of the participating boutiques. Each set includes a pre-addressed, pre-stamped envelope in which the story can be sent by post. There, a single A4 double-sided page presentation will be provided.
All stories will be read by an expert jury composed of renowned authors and journalists together with local representatives of Montblanc. Among them are writer Javier Cercas, literary content creator Martin Boujol or author Ronja von Rönne. The chosen stories will then be published in a book that will be available for reading in all the boutiques taking part in the competition.
