Louis Vuitton and the NBA team up for the third time to launch a travel-inspired collection
French luxury house Louis Vuitton and the NBA professional basketball league announce their third partnership. In 2020 and under the leadership of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton and the NBA decided to start a partnership, and brought out two distinct collections. For this summer season, they are teaming up again for a third chapter inspired by travel. This new edition dedicated to luggage continues to celebrate the basketball values that Abloh cherished and reflected in all the pieces he created for the Maison.
This collaborationcelebrates the 75th anniversary of the NBA and will be available on June 2, 2022 at the Louis Vuitton online store. Among the items in this new collection are the Christopher backpack, the iconic Keepall 55, the Dopp Kit and the Pocket Organizer. These are joined by two exceptional pieces: a case with capacity for eight watches and the Courrier Trunk.
All the designs are made in electric blue Taurillon leather with the Louis Vuitton monogram in large size along with the basketball shape with the colors of the NBA logo. On the side of the Keepall backpack appears a basketball net and details in gold and metallic as a nod to the famous NBA trophy.
The essence of basketball, a legendary sport that exudes a contagious and inspiring energy, has never been captured with such precision as in this iconic Louis Vuitton luggage range. In keeping with the original spirit of the line, the pieces are as recognizable as they are coveted and reinvent all the season’s silhouettes.
Louis Vuitton has also created an exceptional new travel trunk for the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy, the pinnacle of basketball achievement. To protect it, artisans at Louis Vuitton’s Asnières workshop have handcrafted this trunk based on the Maison’s original designs. It features an exterior covered in the iconic monogram with heavyweight brass clasps and hardware. The interior is lined in blue microfiber that sports the NBA’s 75th anniversary logo.
