080 Barcelona Fashion closes its 32nd edition with a sustainable approach in which timelessness and comfort predominate

From the iconic creatives SIMORRA or Guillermina Baeza, to the newcomers Bielo_OscarLeon, Carlota Barrera or AMLUL by Gala González, they have opted for the utility of their garments, with the aim that the user can extend the useful life of the fabrics.

The 32nd edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion catwalk presented the second edition of 080 Reborn. An upcycling initiative of pieces made from denim remnants. Recovered from second-hand shops and waste sorting plants, to give them a new use and bring them to the public.

Under the leitmotiv of reuse to extend the life of clothes and give them a new use. With the aim of minimising the resources we consume and reducing the consumption of toxic waste. All of this will allow us to connect towards a more sustainable world.

“An important part of the collection is made from recycled polyamide, recycled polyester and lycra, with recycled yarns. We also print a waterless part in order to be more sustainable and manufacture KM0 garments. As well as the durability of the garments and the ethics of the processes”, adds Belén Larruy Baeza, designer of Guillermina Baeza.

Guillermina Baeza advocates an inclusive design where comfort and elegance are for all women.

“We don’t make fashion for a specific type of woman, but we have always thought about all types of profiles. Guillermina’s best-selling sizes are M, L, XL, XXL. Our experience after so many years of pattern making has taught us that it is necessary to make a series of patterns to adapt them to all sizes. It is essential for women to feel beautiful, with design and innovation, but comfortable”, adds Belén Larruy.

The firm that comes from the union of the creative vision of Josep Puig Romeu and Oscar Leon, has achieved an exceptional symbiosis by combining a delicate and experimental aesthetic with the experience and knowledge acquired throughout his career in the heart of the family business.

The Travelers” collection refers to the journey of life, with different starting points and varied final destinations. It emphasises the importance of the memories that are treasured and the relationships and friendships that are made along theway”.

It presents comfortable knitwear, total looks and dresses in a muted colour palette that has focused on grey, brown, navy blue and bottle green.

“We work with many types of fabrics: cottons, cashmere, wool, alpaca… very diverse and natural materials. Our team is in the bush, where we are lucky to have the factory and our work space in a sustainable environment.

The aesthetic of this latest collection has been minimalist and with a local promotional point of view. “Everything we produce is made in our factory by local people and we use local suppliers. Gala Gonzalez, the leading designer, founder and creative director of AMLUL, with over 10 years of professionalism in the fashion industry, has dazzled with her latest collection ‘The Secret Garden’, which celebrates femininity through versatile and timeless designs.
