Bodegas Peñascal has redesigned Coral Ethical Wine, two organic wines with 10% of the brand’s profits going to the restoration of coral reefs.

The oceans have become spaces at risk: overfishing, plastic waste, water acidification and climate change are just some of the reasons that endanger their preservation. That is why every small gesture in initiatives that contribute to the conservation of the oceans is a celebration, a step forward. Some of these projects are linked to gastronomy and the wine sector, and today we would like to tell you about the new initiative of Bodegas Peñascal. It is called Coral Ethical Wine and it is a wine that promotes the preservation of marine ecosystems.

Labels printed with thermo-sensitive technology

Coral de Peñascal is a range of organic wines from Bodegas Peñascal that has reprinted its labels with thermo-sensitive technology. This means that, once the wine has cooled and reached the ideal temperature for drinking, the label reveals its palette of marine tones thanks to the thermochromic ink used in the design. In addition, the label features a new illustration of a coral created by Rita Rivotti‘s studio, as a symbol of the brand’s respect for the oceans.

Two varieties united by common values

This range of Coral wines includes two varieties: Coral Ethical White and Coral Ethical Rosé. The former is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc and displays herbaceous and tropical aromas, which are balanced on the palate with a refreshing acidity. The Rosé is sourced from organic vineyards and includes a palette of flavours that evokes notes of redcurrant, raspberry and peach. White and rosé have been fermented at low temperature.

Both represent the values of this new journey and commitment of Coral de Peñascal: quality, sustainability and oenological exquisiteness. This responds to a greater purpose: the one that the winery began to have when they started their project. Today, they are pioneers in having a neutral carbon footprint and using 100% renewable energy. In addition, the bottles are ultra-lightweight and are made from recycled and recyclable materials.

Coral Ethical Wine’s commitment to coral reefs

Both wines collaborates with the Coral Restoration Foundation, a renowned international organisation that manages the largest coral reef restoration programme on the planet. It donates 10% of its profits.

With each bottle of Coral we contribute to the restoration and conservation of coral reefs, which represent 25% of marine biodiversity.
