Handcrafted shoe brand Castañer teams up with French-American designer Joseph Altuzarra to create a collection of dreamy espadrilles

Girona, 1927, family and hard work. These adjectives are very visual, and when we read or hear them somewhere, they can only mean one thing: the legendary shoe brand Castañer. Because Castañer knows as well as we do that, neither in summer nor in spring, we can live without espadrilles, so this has resulted in a collaboration. Although this is not the first time Castañer has collaborated with a luxury designer, it has already worked with Missoni and with Manolo Blahnik. But now he has finished off an ideal collaboration with designer Joseph Altuzarra, to create must-have shoes, as well as praising nature and its different expressions in 3 different espadrille models.

Passion for craftsmanship, a gift they both share

The collection, which clearly expresses the passion for craftsmanship shared by both, is made up of the models, created from leather, jute and canvas, Tie-Dye, Braided and Stitching. To pay homage to these models, on Thursday 3 February Vogue Spain organised an event to present the collection at the Castañer shop in Madrid;

The French-American designer has opted for Castañer to complement his spring-summer designs, in a capsule collectionsupporting traditional craftsmanship. Each model is different and unique. The Tie-Dye model is the classic flat shoe with a different feel, expressing freshness and casualness with a print, as the name says, Tie-Dye.

The Braided model stands for timelessness. Created from black leather combined with ecru tones. It has braids in different shapes and thicknesses to change.

The Stitching model is characterised by the art of embroidery, also with black leather and delicate textures.

The designer Joseph Altuzarra, one of the regular names at New York Fashion Week, is one of the most promising designers in the United States.

She grew up in Paris, where she trained and worked with Ricardo Tisci at Givenchy.He explains that his new collection, with Castañer, aims to create modern pieces that continue to build a vocabulary of sensual, polished luxury. The espadrilles have a totally Mediterranean essence, but with a touch of trendiness.

On the Castañer website, we can see the collection, as well as on the Altuzarra website with the slogan “A Tribute To Nature”. With a minimalist, natural, perfectly balanced presentation that prioritises, above all, visual pleasure.
