The Magic Nights arrive again at Casa Batlló. The modernist rooftop of the architectural jewel designed by Antoni Gaudí will host live music and outdoor drinks. In addition, this year they have the immersive 10D Experience visit.

El Terrat de la Casa Batlló once again hosts a varied musical agenda, and the Nits Màgiques (Magical Nights) inaugurate the 10D Experience visit, to immerse yourself in the history of the house. In the musical field, there are 13 artists from different disciplines to suit the tastes of all visitors. You can enjoy jazz, with Gisela Novals or the Summer Lovers band. The funk style with Peter Gynt & The Suites, or be thrilled by the Spanish guitar and flamenco dance of Sergi Vicente and Juan Ruano. There are many more partners for the audience to see, including La Dama y los Vagabundos and María Expósito, who are the new artists incorporated this year.

This year les Nits Màgiques celebrate 10 years incorporating a great novelty. The cultural visit 10D Experience. They premiere 2,000 m2 of the Casa Batlló that have never been seen before, highlighting, above all, two new rooms: Gaudí Dome and Gaudí Cube. The first, a dome with more than 1,000 screens, with 21 audio channels that speak of the origin of Gaudí’s inspiration. The second is a six-sided LED cube presenting the work of digital artist Refik Anadol “In the mind of Gaudí”. An experience totally creative using artificial intelligence, augmented reality and Machine Learning. A multi-sensory journey that offers visitors innovative and never-before-seen experiences.

Casa Batlló’s general director, Gary Gautler, states that innovation and technology at the service of culture was the right direction for new cultural experiences.

Culture has been hoarded among books and museums that are increasingly distanced from the consumer habits of our society. Everything we do challenges the status quo, and we believe that everything can be done differently. Creating a surprising and exciting experience, fun for all ages, in which you discover the beauty of Casa Batlló.

Thanks to technological advances and the collaboration with the Vitelsa technology group, 10D Experience boasts a long list of innovations:.

  • A new script available in 15 languages and a soundtrack created exclusively by the composer Dani Howard for Casa Batlló.
  • New smart headphones, offering visitors tailored content. A unique and personalised journey;
  • Magical pictures on the walls, which, thanks to hidden micro-sensors, are activated in a cinematographic way. Recreating the history of the house and the family.
  • Ecological technologies that give life to different ephemeral installations. Recreating myths and legends of the Casa.
  • The first indoor mapping with 6 faces on the patio de luces. A mix of colours that are available only for night visits.
  • The new shop Simbòlic designed by the interior designer Lázaro Rosa-Violán. Offering a selection of objects inspired by Gaudí, fusing craftsmanship with innovation.
  • Architectural interventions by the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma.

Staircase designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma

Casa Batlló specifically asked architect Kengo Kuma to design the new eight-storey staircase. They wanted a design that would pay homage to the use of light and colour, offering visitors a unique experience. In this way, they also had the collaboration of Mario Nanni, known as the Italian “master of lighting”.

On the other hand, for the end of the tour, the English studio Ancient & Modern Chesneys Architectural has designed a floating staircase of 13 tonnes of polished marble suspended in the air. With the aim of bringing visitors closer to Gaudí’s creativity and design methodology.

The nightly evenings feature three types of tickets: Blue, Silver and Gold, which are differentiated by the different added services and the visibility of the stage. For Spanish residents, Casa Batlló offers discounts of 20 euros for each ticket. In addition, visitors can enjoy themselves in peace and quiet, and should not feel rejection or fear of being in a crowded place. They guarantee protection against the coronavirus, offering table and waiter service on an individual basis. In addition, the cultural visit has hygiene measures, using the latest technologies in air purification and continuous disinfection of equipment.

The restoration projects carried out by Casa Batlló in recent years have received the Special Mention in the European Award for Architectural Heritage Intervention 2021. These renovations stand out for their precision, detail and respect and have allowed the recovery of the original stuccoes of Planta Noble or lamps and different decorative elements. Always respecting the original work. Also, the restoration of the beautiful main façade, which has been carefully treated to offer its maximum splendour, stands out with great pride. To publicise these historic works, Casa Batlló has developed a microsite interviewing experts, documenting the restorations carried out, as well as the experience of craftsmen in the recovery of original elements of the house.
