Founded by two women, fashion brand ba&sh is funding the regeneration of 8,000 hectares of land by creating a dress in partnership with NATIVA™, leading the way in sustainability in the textile industry, protecting biodiversity and reducing carbon footprint.

The ba&sh fashion brand is known for its strong commitment to sustainability, increasing the circularity of garments, reducing the carbon footprint, helping to preserve ecosystems or choosing materials with less environmental impact. That steady progress led its founders – Barbara Boccara and Sharon Krief – to achieve B Corp certification in the company since last spring. But the efforts don’t stop there: now the brand is reaffirming its commitment to sustainability by partnering with the NATIVA™ Regenerative Agriculture Programme.

ba&sh’s involvement with the fibre company NATIVA™ has consisted of financing the recovery of 8,000 hectares of land to create the first garment made using regenerative agriculture. This initiative is part of ba&sh’s intention to lead the sustainable transformation and contribute to a global movement to protect biodiversity. Alice Fribourg, ba&sh’s Director of Strategy, Transformation and Sustainability, explains: ‘We are very pleased with this collaboration. By supporting the social and environmental transition of the knitting industry through these regenerative agricultural practices, we contribute to better soil carbon sequestration and better conservation of living ecosystems’.

The Medee dress that has been created is actually a reinterpretation of one of ba&sh’s most iconic pieces: a winter dress that uses sustainable yarns, of which 55% is regenerative wool and 45% is organic cotton fibres. The wool used comes from farms in Uruguay that have received direct funding from ba&sh.

Knowing the origin of the materials is fundamental in the traceability of regenerative agriculture. And this is something that ba&sh does in each of its products through the Fairly Made tool, which makes it possible to follow the origin and transformation of the materials used, as well as to know all the people involved in the work process so that the standards of sustainability and environmental responsibility are met.

In line with this commitment, ba&sh is based on the pillars defined by the Regenerative Organic Alliance (ROA), dedicated to soil regeneration, biodiversity protection, elimination of synthetic chemicals, social equity, improvement of farmers’ working conditions and animal welfare.

The NATIVA™ Regenerative Agriculture Programme is a triple impact system based on scientific research and practices such as the incorporation of perennial grasses in natural pastures, the reintroduction of native tree species to provide shelter for animals or the restoration of the local ecosystem using riverbanks.
