In a magical combination of oriental exoticism and refined lines, autumn-winter catwalks follow last season’s wake and get inspired by the Asian world.
Last spring the collections of great firms like Gucci or Prada brought a wave of passion for kimonos, floral prints and the flowing silks. Now this Asian trend, less evident, is presented as inspiration in fabrics, colors, prints and shapes adapted to the coldest period of the year
Oriental-inspired prints
The oriental-inspired print is without a doubt the most outstanding bet. Flowers, exotic and full of vibrant colors, golden and red are the protagonists. But there are also other motifs inspired by Chinese or Japanese traditions: lanterns, brocades, symbols, figures, dragons …
Ethereal fabrics and bright details
Fluids and ethereal fabrics are essential to get this Asian effect, as well as the glowing effect that characterizes the traditional silks, satins and velvets with an embroidered golden tone and the iridescent effects made by the tassels and fringes when walking.
Cheongsam, the main star
As for the forms, the real protagonist is the cheongsam, or better said, the Western reinterpretation of this garment found in the autumnal catwalks. The garment that changed the Chinese women way of dressing is characterized by a linear and clean cut that frames the figure and its closed neck. This oriental silhouette is also achieved with other details such as wide belts that mark the waist, a very popular accessory this season.
Accessories and makeup complete the look
Other designers have chosen to include this Asian trend in their collections through accessories and even with makeup. Hats, umbrellas, bags, shoes and jewelry with oriental touches. Gucci stands out again in this aspect after having marveled with its spring collection, but it is not the only one. Golden colors, brocades, red and blue fabrics that accompany a pale makeup; in some cases carried to the extreme but which, in general, say goodbye to the trendy tanned skins.
The firm Thomas Sabo has wanted to transform this trend into a collection of jewelry. The collection Dragon Nights is inspired by this magical conception of Asia. Symbologies, dragons … all of them on earrings, pendants, rings and bracelets both for men and women.
A recurring trend in the world of fashion for its exoticism and elegance but reinterpreted each season.
