The creative worlds of KAWS and Andy Warhol come together, and Barcelona hosts the iconic career of filmmaker Agnès Varda. Nights of art and magic on the 50th anniversary of the Dalí Theatre-Museum
To enjoy this August, the Dalí Theatre-Museum will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with the Sincronies programme, bringing together music, performance and dance. Every week, from Monday to Wednesday, 12 artists will integrate their works into the museum’s spaces, creating a unique experience under the night sky. Each performance will take place unannounced, with an aura of mystery, making the audience part of unexpected artistic journeys. The programme not only pays tribute to the museum’s half-century, but also revives Dalí’s theatrical and enigmatic spirit.
The director Fèlix Roca with Salvador Sunyer and Montse Aguer.Sincronies is divided into three different blocks per week, with performances starting at 10pm until 1am. The first week, the quartet Leos Quartet will bring the walls of the museum to life through the pieces of J. S. Bach. From the 12th to the 14th the texts of Lorca and Pla talking about Dalí will resonate through the dramatised voices of Mercè Pons, Santi Ricart, Albert Prat and Daniela Brown. Meanwhile, in the last week, contemporary dance, directed by Lorena Nogal of the Hotel Col-lectiu Escènic, will round off the August evenings.

An artistic journey into the essence of Menorca
On the island of Menorca, the ESCAT gallery is hosting the exhibition Stone & Salt, a show that fuses painting, film and interior design to pay homage to the island’s traditional architecture. The project has brought together painter Bea Sarrias, filmmaker Morrosko Vila-San-Juan and interior design studio Quintana Partners to reveal the essence of the place. Through a series of paintings, sketches and drawings inspired by Menorcan houses, they explore the local architecture and interior design, while Vila-San-Juan captures the creative process on camera.
As well as extolling the island’s architectural heritage, the artists also delve into the influence of British colonisation that has been maintained in its design. With the collaboration of the three art geniuses, the exhibition will offer a visual and auditory journey that will allow us to observe the connections between local materials, the nature that surrounds Menorca and its traditional history.
When will it take place? From 12 to 21 August 2024

The feminist universe of Judy Chicago
London’s Serpentine Gallery has presented Judy Chicago: Revelations, the first major exhibition by pioneering artist Judy Chicago. The exhibition brings together new and previously unseen works, preparatory studies as well as audiovisual materials, offering the public an immersion into Chicago’s universe. The exhibition highlights the artist’s commitment to craft and experimentation, and offers a unique insight into her six-decade career as an artist.
The exhibition is composed of immersive multimedia elements, augmented reality and video interviews, creating an interactive experience where visitors can observe and be part of the works. As the gallery indicates, Revelations takes its name from a manuscript written by Chicago in the early 1970s. This writing offers a critical vision on equality, the figure of women, climate justice, birth and human history. With such debatable topics, and not to miss the opportunity, the lyrics that challenged the male-dominated art scene 50 years ago are transformed into visual art.
When will it take place? From 23 May to 1 September 2024.
Where? London W2 3XA, United Kingdom
Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 10.00am to 6.00pm

Decades and emotions enclosed between portraits
Ibiza’s Tambien Gallery opens its doors to the exhibition Howard Greenberg Tambien. The exhibition invites you to travel through documentary photography from the first decades of the 20th century to the present day. Throughout the tour, pieces by Henri Cartier-Bresson, William Klein, Wim Wenders, among others, are exhibited. The meanings and feelings masked in a body were captured through the camera, and the exhibition offers a reinterpretation of the world.
The exhibition was born from the connection between the two artistic worlds of the Balearic and New York galleries. Its thematic diversity allows us to explore feelings and emotions encapsulated in portraits, and invites us to reflect while observing carefree characters, children pointing a gun or smoking, as in the image Amanda and her cousin Amy, by Mary Ellen Mark in 1990.
When will the exhibition run? Until 30 September 2024
Where? Carrer Vénda de Parada, 20, Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza, Balearic Islands
Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Saturday from 10.30h to 14.00h.
Wu Tsang defies death at MACBA
Continuing with the art novelties, the artist Wu Tsang arrives at MACBA with the film installation, La gran mentira de la muerte, a work that reinterprets the myth of Georges Bizet’s opera, Carmen. Tsang wanted to explore the narrative of opera with the performative traditions of flamenco and bullfighting. Themes such as gender, race, colonialism and class are portrayed and invite a dialogue about them, about the different stereotypes that exist in society.
Carmen is a symbol of freedom and rebellion, as well as sacrifice and meets a deadly end. Thus, Wu Tsang has wanted to bring the audience a unique experience where death becomes an immersive experience, which not only reveals emotions of tragedy, but also offers different visions to face the complexities of the opera myth. With an open space, and multi-channel sound, the atmosphere remains tense as death lurks, but invites you to question the inevitability of running away from it.
When does it run? From 20 July to 3 November 2024.
Where? Plaça dels Àngels, 1, Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11.00h to 19.30h. Saturday from 10.00h to 20.00h and Sunday from 10.00h to 15.00h.

The innovative and revolutionary journey of Agnès Varda

KAWS and Warhol on the 30th anniversary
This year, The Warhol Museum celebrates 30 years since its opening, and presents a unique exhibition: KAWS + Warhol. The exhibition examines the darker themes that run through the works of both artists, contrasting sinister narratives alongside bright colours and pop culture references. From skulls to road accidents, the exhibition presents death as a spectacle.
The American artist has sought to pay homage to the marketing Warhol adopted with a new series of paintings, sculptures and installations. These works, related to his collaboration with General Mills, feature iconic characters on mythical cereal boxes such as Reese’s Puffs and Count Chocula. In addition, KAWS presents a giant wooden sculpture in Pop Park, visible from the museum entrance, symbolising the boundary between art and public space, aligning with The Warhol’s new initiative: The Pop District.
