Festivals are one of the best opportunities to take a break with friends, enjoy good music and discover some of the most beautiful cities in the world. This is just one small selection of some of the spring festivals that we propose.
Ultra Music Festival (Miami)
On the same side of the Atlantic but this time in Miami. The best DJs come together in this festival of astronomical dimensions. It is celebrated in the heart of the city, so it is a great opportunity to get to know it without having to move, enjoy the good weather on the beach and go shopping. Among the guests of this year we can find: Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Axwell Ingrosso, David Guetta or Tiësto. The festival will be held on March 23rd, 24th and 25th.
In addition to the Ultra Music in Miami, in Europe, the Ultra held in Split, Croatia, celebrates its sixth edition this year on July 6th, 7th and 8th.
DGTL (Amsterdam)
It does not present posters with great names and, nevertheless, it has become one of the most respected festivals of its kind. The underground electronic music is the protagonist of the DGTL, which creates a perfect platform of creativity, innovation and special effects to discover the most popular DJ’s. Veteran and emerging artists come together this year from March 30th to April 1st in Amsterdam.The success of the festival has led its organizers to celebrate it also in Barcelona (from August 10th to 12th) and Sao Paulo (May 5th).
Coachella (California)
Maybe it is because is celebrated in California, for the celebrities it gathers, for its wheel… but the fact is that it has become one of the most famous festivals in the world. A fame more than deserved because Coachella it is not just a matter of being cool. It has one of the best posters and a host of endless gastronomic, artistic and cultural experiences parallel to the music. This year is held from April 13th to 15th and 20th to 22th with The Weekend, Kygo, Beyoncé and Eminem as main stars.
Bevrijdingspop (Haarlem, Holland)
Undoubtedly, the most demanding of this selection. Takes place on May 5th, Day of the Liberation of Holland, that’s why peace and freedom occupy such a prominent place in this festival. Several festivals are organized throughout the country, but this is undoubtedly the most spectacular of all. The Bevrijdingspop is completely free. Within its program, it combines genres and activities as disparate as classical music, rap, pop, debates, poetry and a ceremony with the fire of liberation.
Nuits Sonores (Lyon, France)
This festival is the ideal way to visit the French city in a different way. Les Nuits Sonores celebrates its 16th edition from next May 6th to 13th being faithful to its urban vocation. Artists and DJs of underground electronic music meet to offer their performances in some of the most unusual, interesting and beautiful places in the historic city. The former factories Fagor-Brandt, Sucrière, the Lyon Auditorium, Le Transbordeur and the Tony Bertrand Nautical Center are the main locations chosen for 2018. There are many electronic music festivals but the multidisciplinary, inclusive and cultural spirit of this one makes it a very good option.
Jazz Festival of Saint Germain des Prés (Paris)
This mythical Parisian neighborhood welcomes the spirit of jazz since 2001 with some of its most emblematic buildings as a backdrop. The interior of The Sorbonne, the Odeon Theater, the School of Political Sciences or the Senate are the scene of this cultural event that goes beyond music and includes, besides concerts, lectures, jazz classes, talks and exhibitions about the genre. This year, the Festival is celebrated from May 11th to 22nd.
Primavera Sound (Barcelona)
The Barcelona festival has become one of spring’s essentials. With more than 200,000 attendees in its latest edition, it can be said that it turns independent music into a mass phenomenon year after year. The next Primavera Sound will be held from May 30th to June 2nd. Its poster includes artists such as Belle and Sebastian, Björk, Migos, Arctic Monkeys or Lorde.
Sónar in the world (Barcelona, Reykjavík, Hong Kong and Istanbul)
The Sónar brand was created in 1994 in the city of Barcelona and, more than 20 years later, it has managed to take its festival from Barcelona to more than 50 cities around the world. During 2018, 4 editions of the festival are planned in 4 different locations. In Barcelona on June 14th, 15th and 16th, in Reykjavík, March 16th and 17th, in Hong Kong, on March 17th and in Istanbul, on April 6th and 7th. Electronic music and an opportunity to travel the world enjoying the quality of the organization.
I Days Milano (Milan)
The festival, which attracted more than 200,000 people last year, changes this year’s location: from the Monza Autodrome to the Milan Expo Area. The great affluence is not surprising if we consider the poster. The Killers, Liam Gallagher, Pearl Jam, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Paul Kalkbrenner, Queens of the Stone Age, The Offspring and Wolf Alice are confirmed artists for the 2018 edition, which will be held from June 21st to 24th. A historic city, great artists of pop and rock, delicious cuisine, can you ask for something more?
